FLSA STATUS: Exempt

POSITION TYPE: Part-Time, Non-Benefited

DEPARTMENT: Heavy Duty Truck Program

RESPONSIBLE TO: Department Chair

ESTIMATED CLOSING DATE: Until Filled

                                                                   

POSITION SUMMARY

 

Teach Adjunct Heavy Truck Technology courses in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB 

 

  • Teaches contracted credit load of courses in accordance with the descriptions published in the CWI catalog
  • Utilizes outcomes assessment measures
  • Participates in instructional evaluation processes
  • Meets all scheduled classes promptly with any deviation being filed promptly and accurately through the appropriate channels
  • Monitors student placement in courses and student progress; maintains accurate records
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds of community college students
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Degree in Diesel Technology or equivalent experience with training & specialized Knowledge
  • Strong familiarity with heavy duty truck mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of adult learning methodology
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a technical training environment
  • Technical experience relating to brakes, suspension, and drive train systems
  • Dealership experience (sales, parts, or service)
  • Industry specific certification if applicable
  • Ability to adapt to variety of teaching methodologies including lectures, group activities, individual instruction, distance learning, and teaching with technology
  • Ability to demonstrate commitment to professional growth and development
  • Ability to advise students
  • Proficiency in usage of internet, email, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications
  • Possess or qualify for an Occupational Specialist Certificate from Idaho Division of Professional Technical Education (see https://cte.idaho.gov/about/new-teachers/ for requirements). Certificate or confirmation of pending certificate from PTE is required prior to start date.
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and presentation skills
  • Teaching experience at a community college level preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in the discipline or related field with three years full time applicable experience preferred
  • Ability to utilize different methods and mediums in delivering course materials preferred
  • Proficiency in computer applications preferred
  • Local (Treasure Valley) candidate with industry affiliations preferred
  • Experience using instructional technology preferred
  • ASE Master Certified in Medium/Heavy Truck Technician preferred
