Statement of Purpose:

* Responsible for managing the development, implementation, and support of scholarly publishing technology solutions.
* Participate in strategic and operational management of the organization as a member of the senior management team.

Job Duties / Responsibilities:

Publishing Technology Development

* Direct and supervise the Publishing Technology Development and Support staff.
* Lead the successful development, implementation, and support of technology projects, including but not limited to, XML workflows, content management systems and web-based publishing tools.
* Coordinate efforts of both internal and external software development personnel; monitors ongoing development costs and ensures that projects are completed on time and on budget.
* Provide input to Technology Research group, including TSG Technology Lab, during proof of concept, analysis, and design of applications.
* Work effectively with the TSG Technology Lab to manage the ongoing support and maintenance of content delivery solutions for mobile devices.
* Work collaboratively with DJS and TSG leadership, sales representatives, information technology, client services, technology partners, production services, business consultants, and select customers.
* Ensure that all activities of the technology development and support department are effectively managed using project management software and systems, including the generation of progress reports on a routine basis.
* Oversee the implementation and monitoring of change management and bug tracking systems for all technology-based services, including the management of source code and version control.
* Maintain in depth knowledge of emerging publishing technologies, standards and methodologies.
* Ensure that all systems, services, and tools include comprehensive system, administrator, and end-user documentation for use in training technology and production services staff,
* Be available for local and out of the area travel as required for job related training. Shall attend all required meetings and functions as requested.
* Other job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor s degree in publishing technology, computer science, MIS, or related field. MBA desirable.
* 8+ years of direct experience developing publishing technology workflow and software, with 3 or more of those years in a leadership role.
* Demonstrated ability to manage short-term and long-term technology projects from development through implementation and ongoing support.
* A personable, people-sensitive, team player with strong leadership qualities and a well-developed leadership style, including strong coaching and mentoring abilities.
* Proven project management expertise, including the use of a range of project management tools for monitoring and reporting progress. PMP certification preferred.
* Knowledge and experience with one or more of the following: XML, XSLT, DTDs, XSD, HTML, SGML, .NET, Javascript, SQL, PERL, Ruby.
* Knowledge and experience with composition systems, file conversions systems, and graphics processing systems.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, in English.
* Multicultural awareness and sensitivity to work effectively across DJS and TSG companies and global supplier base.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to think strategically and act tactically.
* Act with integrity and build trust with others. Demonstrate sound business and professional ethics. Show consistency of principles, values, and behaviors.
* Ability to travel to company, supplier, and customer locations in the U.S., Europe, Asia, Middle-East.
