Job Description
We are looking for an experienced analyst to join our globally distributed Capacity Planning team. Our mission is to develop predictive models to translate business forecasts into IT infrastructure requirements. Our organization hosts and manages all of the services offered by Nokia Location & Commerce, and we need to scale our infrastructure to support hundreds of millions of users.
As a Capacity Analyst, you will be responsible for the following items:
* Build and maintain capacity models to project infrastructure requirements (servers, storage, network bandwidth) to support our applications.
* Translate business forecasts into infrastructure requirements for assigned services.
* Track actual vs. forecast utilization, analyze usage profiles, prepare documentation and conduct periodic capacity reviews with key stakeholders.
* Identify over/underutilized infrastructure components and provide recommendations to ensure efficient and cost-effective use of our hardware resources.
* Work with development, QA & ops to define capacity metrics, tools and process for data collection.
* Communicate recommendations clearly and effectively.
* Build strong, collaborative working relationships with internal teams and add value.
* Proactively identify capacity issues before they become problems.
* Provide recommendations and input to capital budgeting process.
* Support the development and maintenance of centralized data repositories of KPIs.

Qualifications
Desired Skills and Experience
A successful candidate meets the following:
* Computer Science or Engineering degree is required.
* MBA or graduate degree in Information Management or Computing Performance analysis is a plus.
* 7 or more years of experience, with 4 or more years in Capacity Planning for Linux/Unix systems.
* Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel - experience building and using excel data models.
* Experience in statistical analysis and correlation of data.
* Strong communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present results, findings, and alternatives.
* Ability to work collaboratively across the organization and build strong working relationships with development, QA, operations and finance teams.
* Advanced data analysis skills with hands-on experience interpreting and working with Linux/Unix server performance data.
* Fundamental understanding of the typical scalability problems encountered with high-volume consumer web applications.
* Able to establish goals, set clear expectations, prioritize activities, and follow through with timely execution (associated deadlines).
* Be fluent in English, both in spoken and written form.
* Consulting experience in a capacity/performance discipline is a plus.
* Scripting skills and/or experience using large-scale data manipulation tools such as Splunk is a plus.
* Experience working in a geographically diverse organization with remote management is a plus.
