BASIC FUNCTION:
The Assistant Restaurant Manager ensures that all Stowe Mountain Lodge standards of service are followed by the Restaurant, In room dining and Schuss staff. He/she supports the restaurant manager overseeing the complete operation of the Restaurant, In room dining and Schuss while promoting a healthy and positive working environment. In addition, provides sincere service through actions that display self-confidence, grace and courtesy to guests and colleagues.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist maintaining a consistently smooth running operation.
2. Ensures a consistent, seamless and luxurious guest dining experience.
3. Works with the Restaurant Manager and Director of Food and Beverage to ensure all policies and procedures are being followed correctly.
4. Is responsible for inventories, purchasing, budgeting, and scheduling.
5. Ensures physical atmosphere and cleanliness of the restaurant, including inspecting table tops, and side-stations.
6. Welcomes guests to the restaurant in a professional manner and interacts with guests to take food and drink orders.
7. Communicates effectively with the Chef, kitchen and stewarding staff.
8. Ensures prompt delivery of food to the guest's table.
9. Has knowledge of liquor, beer, and wine. Suggests pairings of food to wine or beer.
10. Has an extensive knowledge of the restaurant menu and maintains the ability to describe both the ingredients and preparation of each dish.
11. Maintains a daily log of important information to share with the department.
12. Provides employees with the information needed to perform their job effectively.
13. Orients employees to the department and resort and provides on-the-job training on job responsibilities.
14. Prioritizes and assigns work.
15. Ensures that each check is accurate and proper payment is received.
16. Maintains house bank and handles all cash according to Resort policies and procedures.
17. Maintains an up to date working knowledge of all resort amenities as well as any special events.
18. Takes restaurant reservations when needed for internal and external guests.
19. Interacts with resort staff in a professional manner, assisting other departments with necessary information.
20. Is knowledgeable of all emergency procedures and Resort policies.
21. Solicits guest feedback via guest comment cards and acknowledges guest preferences for future visits.
22. Addresses all guest feedback with the utmost confidence, grace and concern for their satisfaction.
23. Upholds all safety standards of Stowe Mountain Lodge and Destination Hotels and Resorts.
24. Is able to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
25. Is able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
26. Is able to stand/walk up to 6-8 hours per day.
27. Is a team player and interacts with all guests and fellow Associates in a positive and friendly manner.
Position Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE:
? High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
? 2-3 years prior hotel or fine dining restaurant supervisory or management capacity
? Experience in high volume establishments.
? Extensive food service knowledge.
? Extensive wine knowledge.
? Excellent communication skills.
? Technical proficiency (basic computer applications).
? Attention to detail.
? Extensive Bar experience
? Strong organizational and time management discipline.
? Understanding of hospitality operating systems.
? Solid judgment and ability to resolve conflicts effectively.
? Operate effectively in stressful situations.
? Ability to multi-task.
? Ability to adapt to changing guest needs.
